When I have the opportunity to handle a vintage instrument such as the one you are bidding on here, I can’t help but to think of the stories it could tell. Popular bands such as the Sousa Band are touring and performing for communities all around the United States and the world! American ragtime music had been sweeping across areas of the South in the United States from the late 1890’s Jazz was being born at the turn of the century. Just a few years before this instrument was made the Wright Brothers took their first flight. This instrument was made at a particularly awesome time in history for the world. We may never see a company as dedicated to serve our industry as we had with the original C.G.

Conn factory even had a full blown research and development department with a Dean of Acoustical studies. They were driven to provide the highest craftsmanship, with the most current and even revolutionary technology for the time. The company was known for producing the finest quality instruments. Conn company from its beginning days thru the first few years of the 1970’s was the most important factory to the industry. Conn musical instrument manufacture was at the time the largest and most important band instrument manufacturer in the world. Up for auction is a beautiful piece of American history. The proceeds of this auction will directly benefit the trust that was put in place to support the Midwest Trumpet Festival, and will help memorialize David Kuehn’s contribution to the trumpet community. The Midwest Trumpet Festival has exposed the midwest trumpet community to the likes of famed trumpeters such as Vince DeMartino, Allen Vizzutti, Wayne Bergeron, Claudio Roditi, Bobby Shew, David Hickman, Joe Burgstaller, Ryan Anthong, Lonnie McFadden, and SO many more over the years. Each year Under the direction of, the Midwest Trumpet Festival's mission is to gather leading performers, educators, students, and community for an intensive time of large and small continuing education sessions, master classes, recitals, and concerts. His collection is being auctioned to benefit an endowment that will support the ‘Midwest Trumpet Festival’ which celebrated its 11th Festival on October 6/7, 2019.
